I have a new colleague at work. His name is Dylan and he’s 16 years old. I was entrusted by my boss to teach him how to host parties and the rules in Playzone. My boss said to me “…I have a lot of faith in you, Calvin.” That made my day.
Anyways, this new colleague is very inspiring. His mum died from ovarian cancer 3 years ago and he was working today, his first shift, on her birthday. He said working today was good because it took his mind off her. I was very moved by how strong and enthusiastic he was, I wouldn’t even have guessed such a tragedy would have happened to him. He has some siblings that are mentally disabled and he helps look after them. The reason why he wanted to work was ‘to help [his] dad support the family’ (obviously because the father is a single parent and he would need to pay a lot of medical bills for his disabled children). I was really impressed by how mature this guy was. You don’t see people like that all the time. He is already much more of a man than I am and it’s just so cool.
I also visited Lesgay today and I pretty much didn’t go by my diet today… I had youth group after work and that was good, as always. Some highschoolers are back which is nice to see. That’s my day in a wrap! Would you like fries with that? Haha just kidding. I don’t have fries.
